Overview
The R1 is the kart we sell most of, and the reason is space rather than speed.
25 mph is enough to hold a long, controlled slide on a sealed surface. It is also slow enough that a 40 by 60 foot lot is genuinely usable, which is the size of area most people can actually get access to. The most common regret in this category is buying the fastest kart available and then discovering that the only lot you can ride in caps you at half throttle.
1,500 W of continuous brushless power on 48V means it pulls hard out of a slide without the front going light. That low-end pull is what sustains a drift, and it matters far more than terminal velocity.
Who this is for
Adults from roughly 130 lb up to the 250 lb rating. That includes experienced drivers: a fast car does not prepare you for a kart, because perceived speed scales with how close your eyes are to the ground.
If you can already catch a slide reliably and you have a lot over 100 by 150 feet with runoff, the Ripcord R3 is the better kart. Everyone else should start here, and the skills transfer completely if you move up later.
Surface and space you need
Surface: smooth and sealed. Polished concrete is ideal, smooth sealed asphalt works well. Rough chipseal grips unevenly, so the kart snaps into a slide rather than easing into one, and it wears a $59 set of slide sleeves in 6 to 8 hours instead of 25.
Space: 40 by 60 feet of continuous smooth surface as a working minimum, with 15 feet of clear runoff. Less than that and you spend the session turning around rather than sliding.
Setup and assembly
It ships assembled and crated. Out of the box: charge the pack fully, check the fasteners listed on the torque card, set the seat position, and check front tire pressures are equal side to side.
Re-check the critical fasteners after each of the first three sessions. Vibration and repeated lateral load work fasteners loose faster on a drift kart than on almost anything else, because you are deliberately loading the frame sideways hundreds of times per session. After the first three, monthly is enough.
Running costs
Slide sleeves, $59 a set of four, 20 to 30 hours on smooth sealed concrete. This is the brake-pad equivalent of the hobby.

Warranty and parts
Two years on the frame, twelve months on electronics, covered in the warranty terms. Controllers, throttles, hubs, chargers, packs and sleeves are all stocked individually in the US, so a failure is a part rather than a new kart.

Is 25 mph fast enough?
From a seat six inches off the ground, 25 mph reads roughly like 60 mph in a car. It is also more speed than a 40 by 60 foot lot lets you use, which is why this is the right kart for most spaces.
How long does the battery last per charge?
60 to 75 minutes of mixed riding. Drifting draws more than cruising because it holds the motor at high torque and low rpm, so expect the lower end if you slide continuously.
Can I replace the battery myself?
Yes. It is a removable module on a standard XT90 connector, no cutting or soldering. Replacements are $495.
What surface does it need?
